Private Applicator Training Information

Private Applicator Trainings 

Mark Arnold, Ellis County Extension Agent of Agriculture & Natural Resources, administers Private Applicator Training regularly at the Ellis County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office (701 S. I-35 E., Waxahachie, 75165). The offered training dates change yearly based on the needs of the community. Click Here to be directed to our Events Calendar.

It is best to contact our AgriLife Extension Service office – prior to the given dates – to ensure the program/activity will take place. We can be reached at (972) 825-5175.

Following Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Rules & Regulations, receiving and/or maintaining a Private Applicators license requires a specific amount of continuing education hours (CEUs). CLICK HERE for the Texas Department of Agriculture Private Pesticide Applicators’ checklist (PDF).

  • 15 hours every 5 years with 2 in Laws & Regulations and 2 in IPM (Integrated Pest Management). You may take 10 hours via online or correspondence courses but you MUST have at least 5 hours of live instruction.
  • Complete paperwork, Extension Form D-1411 or TDA Form PS-404. You will need to apply for your license to take your exam*.

Training Schedule (Ellis County Event Calendar)

8:15 AM – Arrive and register at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office. Payment is required at the time of training. Cost: $60.00 (NOTE: pay using cash or check; we are unable to process credit or debit cards; cost covers the provided Training Manuals**)

8:30 AM – Training begins

1:00 PM – Training concludes

   **We encourage you to pick up your Training Manuals prior to the scheduled training date. This allows you to study and answer the practice questions before the required training class. Our office hours are Monday – Friday, 8-12 PM; 1-5 PM. The office CLOSES from 12-1 PM for lunch. 

Taking the PA Test
